Day 3 Sunday in Estepona

We woke up late, not surprising since the sun is coming up closer to 8.a.m. here in Estepona. We are spending the week at the Marriott Playa Andaluza. What to do first? Well, after coffee and tea, and some yogurt and eggs, we headed to the Sunday market in Estepona. Our concierge told us it wasn’t the greatest market, but it was sure to have some inexpensive sunglasses for dh. His had broken on the drive south. We had good directions and drove to about two or three blocks from the sea in the port of Estepona.
Up the hill
You have no doubt as you drive down the hill, for there is a huge anchor in one roundabout and then a boat in another. We were glad we didn’t have to park too high up the hill! Off to look for sunglasses.

The wind was brisk, so it seemed a good time to have a sit-down and …you guessed it, cafĂ© con leche.
Coffee and a sausage roll
A sausage roll rounded it off as we decided to do a bit more shopping but this time in a supermarket. Back to the car with our groceries and it was nearing lunchtime. Those coffees help to keep the hunger pangs at bay till the meal times arrive. We had read of two good restaurants in the port so walk we did.

Fortunately, we spied Escollera off past some fishing boats.
La Escollera
It was crowded but we managed a seat in the back right next to the plastic curtains on the edge of the sand. Fish it would be as I was dying for calamares fritos. Dh had fried cod, and we people watched for some time.

A man was wandering through the restaurant with a box of small plants. He had the table of women next to us in stitches, and no, no, no they said. But in the end, he made one sale amid roars of laughing.
He made the ladies laugh
I only wish we could have had as many dishes as we saw our neighboring tables share, but with the fried dishes, we just couldn’t. However there is always room for flan, even flan ice cream, and of course ….cafe con leche. Dh says he has seen me drink more coffee in two or three days than I usually have in a year!

After lunch it was a long siesta and – but of course – computer writing.
