Day 6 Wednesday Granada

(All pictures are clickable links and more photos are available on Flickr.)

Granada is 2.5 hrs from Estepona, and while we had hoped to make an early start for this trip, we had a prescheduled appointment with our Marriott sales person. (As anyone who has ever stayed at a Mariott resort knows, this half hour chat leads to Marriott points – worth our time.) However, we rebooked this so we could get going by 10am. Again, once away from the Costa del Sol, we did see the sun. Go figure…

Alhambra ticket should be purchased/booked a day in advance and we had made phone reservations with a credit card. Our entrance time was 1pm, with Nazari palace entrance at 5:30p.m Upon arrival at the Alhambra, we found many lines, tho not long at this time of year. After asking and wandering a bit, we verified that we were to go back to the ticket machines, enter our credit card, and our tickets would emerge. (Well of course we wondered if we would be buying tickets AGAIN, but out our tickets came and off we went.) Ticket dispenser Alhambra

Since we had some free time, our concierge had suggested we walk down the hill into Granada, walk around a bit, eat and then take the bus back UP the hill.

Locations were clearly marked on the way down, and we noted which buses were going UP the hill. Into town, with many guitar shops Guitar shops were plentiful here

And we realized we had better eat something quickly. Ordering a meal involves t-i-m-e which is fine when you have it, but right then we didn’t. Ok so cafĂ© con leche, aqua minerale con gas and something. Suddenly a plate of chicken arrived…our fist unordered tapas. Ah this must be
Granada…

Our waiter stood patiently under the hams.

I had some spinach and chickpeas that had sausage bits.

Dick had a Spanish tortilla.

But no dessert this day…we have to get back up the hill. Now just look for the bus.
