After such a lovely morning, it was time to seriously think of lunch and Whitstable came to MY mind. Oysters! However, I had priced the little gems at various places and while the $ was stronger, it wasn't that strong yet to be at parity with the pound. We would see what prices were like in Whitstable.
As soon as we got into Whitstable, we saw this charity car park at the Primary School. What a gift!
Lunch was calling but yes, once I saw the price at Pruniers' it was- Ok let's find a pub or just something quick. Ah, but what came first was the Farmers' Market in a hall.
While so much of this was tempting, we were leaving our villa the next day and would have no cooking facilities in London. This Cheese Serpent did tempt me...a lot...tho.
We finally filled our tummies with fish and chips which were darn good. As tempting as the fishmongers' was, I passed on the oysters.
Continuing along the main roads we headed to the sea. But oh, we had to stop for a dessert - which we shared, honest!
We shared the day with a lot of people shopping or just being daytrippers.
Seafood was sold in this building right on the water but it was crowded and we were full.
Here in Whitstable the sea seemed to be even calmer than it was at Reculver. At times looking out it was hard to see the break between sea and sky.
Down along the sea, The Neptune is a landmark pub which is out on the beach and what a day to sit in the sun there.
But the sun was getting lower on the horizon and it was getting time to head back south and get packing for the next day.
But suddenly on our way out of town, dh pulled over and as I was sputtering "What are you doing?!?!?" and he said..."Look!" A windmill."
A perfect topping to a perfect day.
